Swim 4 - For confident beginners to learn backstroke, floating, co-ordination and water safety

  • developing floating, arm sculling movements for later swim! groups

Swim 5 - For confident early swimmers to learn front crawl, develop backstroke, rotation and lifesaving
  • strong leg kicking on all four strokes over 15 metres
  • swimming 10 metres on front crawl
  • learning breaststroke and butterfly arm strokes
  • learning handstands and somersaults
  • swimming 5 metres with clothes on for essential lifesaving skills
Swim 6 - For confident swimmers to develop technique on all four strokes for lifelong fitness, and lifesaving
  • strong leg kicking on all four strokes over 20 metres
  • swimming 25 metres on a favourite stroke
  • swimming 20 metres on front crawl and backstroke
  • swimming 15 metres breaststroke and 10 metres butterfly
  • arm sculling – travelling feet first
  • swimming 10 metres with clothes on for essential lifesaving skills
Swim 7 - For confident swimmers to learn about competitive swimming, further develop technique on all four strokes for lifelong fitness, and lifesaving
  • swimming 25 metres on front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke
  • swimming 15 metres butterfly
  • swimming 50 metres on a favourite stroke
  • learning competitive turns for each stroke
  • swimming 15 metres with clothes on for essential lifesaving skills
Swim 8 - For confident swimmers to develop swimming skills and technique over 400 metres, fitness swimming and lifesaving
  • swimming 50 metres on front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke
  • swimming 25 metres butterfly
  • swimming 100 metres showing 3 different strokes
  • swimming 400 metres continuously on a choice of strokes
  • lifesaving skills
